Closing out a rescue with accurate information is vitally important to the rescue process as it will directly impact our reporting on how many lbs. of food were rescued and will allow us to have the most accurate reflection of the impact our organization is making in your community.
- Select the Rescues tile and locate the ‘Today’s Rescues’ section if the rescue occurred today or ‘Recent Rescues’ section if it occurred on a previous day.
- Select ‘Yes I Did It’ if you completed the rescue or select ‘I Couldn’t Make It’ if you were unable to complete the rescue. If you went to the rescue (or called ahead), but there was no food available to be donated still select ‘Yes I Did It’ and check the ‘No Food Available’ box at the top of the screen and proceed to step 5.
- Select all of the food types that were rescued. Any options that are preselected were chosen by the Site Director when they set up the rescue, please remove any items that weren't rescued. Then click Next.
- The total weight of the rescued food that appears was entered by the Site Director when they created the rescue. If the weight listed does not reflect the rescue weight accurately feel free to update the weight. You can adjust the weight by entering new values for each description category or adjusting the total weight. If the weight is accurate you can adjust the distribution of the weight using the sliders for each category. The weight will be split as evenly as possible across each food type by default.
- Upload or take a photo of your rescue by selecting Add Rescue Photo
- Leave a comment for your Site Director(s) if there is anything you'd like them to know about the rescue. These are usually any updates to the pickup or dropoff instructions that may have been changed by the food donor or receiving agency since the rescue was last completed.
- Select the ‘Close’ button to finish closing the rescue.
